Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
For yesterday is but a dream.
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today well lived makes
every yesterday a dream of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!
Such is the salutation of the dawn.

Pre-History

I found this in a folder in Outlook. My impression is that it was intended to be sent to someone but is without an address. I'll tuck it back here for the adventurous to find.

Had a chance to try out my new cold weather clothing.
Went this morning at 35 degrees and did 20 on the old and harder hills route.
Came back with “warm” feet. The experience wasn’t completely un-enjoyable.
In fact it was encouraging. I’d do it again and probably will.
There should be sufficient cold clear days (I had brilliant blue skies to ride under) to make this winter a training plus.

This afternoon we’re cooking turkey, stuffing and gravy for the Ward Christmas party this evening. And while we wait for the bird we’re trying our hands at making pepper jelly flavored with blue berry and pomegranate juice. If it turns out you’ll get a sample.

Mile post: I left work Thursday – I mean on my desk for my back-up to pick up. One thing was really old. She’ll probably scream about it but I’m almost ROAD. Rather be on my bike. They haven’t figured out yet that a little praise has a big boost to production. This will probably be my last year, so it’s just too late for a change on their part to make any significant difference on my part. What are they going to do fire me? I’ll retire. Did it once. I can do it again.

The inequity of expectation will not be missed.

Christmas is coming and I want to feel the joy of the season again.
I want to be with my family and feel the warmth of that relationship.
I want to be in Portland on a cold evening in the Christmas season with bell ringers on every street corner… Surrounded by the fairyland of store windows where children can lose themselves in dreams… Wrapped in the anticipation of gifts to loved ones - thick as a winter’s coat… I want to be at home. I’m afraid I may never be at home here. It’s just where I live.

I love our house and home. It’s simply in the wrong place.
I'm a Portland boy...

And I may never send this. It’s a burden that you probably shouldn’t be ask to bear. And why I don’t have a blog.
